Hi CCE Families,
Welcome back and I hope you all had an incredible summer! With the recent heat wave, I hope everyone has been able to stay cool and enjoy time with your family. This summer we had the opportunity to spend a week in Cooperstown, New York at a baseball tournament. We followed that up with a week visiting family in Rhode Island. We capped our summer vacation with a trip to Albuquerque to see the Isotopes and my oldest son, Jake, attended an umpire clinic put on by Major League Baseball.
As we prepare for another great year, please take a moment to look at our 2026-2027 CCE Faculty List and a note introducing the newest members of the CCE staff. I wanted to take a moment to share with you that we will be hiring a new school counselor. Mrs. Devan had the opportunity to take on a full time position at Broomfield High School. We are going to miss her tremendously. We are engaged in the hiring process and will share an update once we have our new staff member hired.
I am very proud of all the hard work and dedication from our students and staff last school year. It was amazing to be recognized as a John Irwin School of Excellence and I look forward to celebrating all that we accomplish this coming school year.
As many of you are aware our district is experiencing declining enrollment and our community was able to participate in community engagement sessions last spring. This summer our district team has been developing options that will be presented to the BVSD Board of Education in late August. I encourage our families to continue to spread positive messages about CCE and know that our kiddos will continue to thrive at Coal Creek.
Here’s to an incredible 2026–2027 school year and I hope to see everyone @ Meet the Teacher the morning of Tuesday, August 11th from 8:00-9:00! Don’t forget the first day of school for 1st-5th grade (Kindergarten attends on their assigned staggered start day) is Wednesday, August 12th, no late start, and the bell will ring @ 7:50!! CCE ROCKS~Mr. VanI |

Check your portal in September/October. IT adds this fee directly into IC. It is payable by November 21st) BVSD has implemented a centralized RevTrak web store (systems used to collect fees) for all BVSD schools. After School Clubs and Classes 2026-27 |
We are excited to announce after school clubs that will meet once per week for 4 weeks! Each club is centered around a different theme and will be grade level specific. Clubs will meet after school on Mondays from 2:50-3:45PM in Mr. O's or Mrs. Hunter's classroom. These clubs are offered at no cost and are separate from Lifelong Learning opportunities.
Due to class size constraints, each club will be limited to 20-25 students. In order to be as fair as possible, if there is more interest than space available, we will be choosing students by lottery. We will try our best to make sure all interested students have a chance to attend one club. Please indicate your child's top choices below. We will reach out in the upcoming weeks to confirm if your child has a spot in a club and include a permission slip. A permission slip must be signed prior to the start of the club or your student will not be allowed to attend. All Registration forms MUST BE TURNED IN BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th.
Please NOTE that if a class has to be canceled for any reason, a make up date will not be provided. In addition to the clubs below, Coal Creek will be offering a Running Club in the Spring. Look out for more information later in the year. Registration Form |

Parents must log into the student’s Infinite Campus Portal to report an absence or if the student will be tardy. Please complete this reporting PRIOR to 7:50 AM on the day of absence/tardy. Even if you have notified the teacher, you MUST report the absence in Infinite Campus.
If you do not have access to IC, please call the Attendance Line at 720-561-4502. To ensure student safety, if we have not heard from parents excusing an absence prior to 9AM, the police will be dispatched to complete a welfare check on the student. |

We appreciate all Volunteers at CCE. General Guidelines: An annual Raptor background check is required to volunteer in the school. If you are interested in attending a field trip you are required to complete a fingerprint background check which is good for five years. If you complete fingerprints, you do not need to complete a Raptor check. Please review Volunteering in BVSD for details.

Welcome back CCE families and students! I am looking forward to another year of discovery in the library. Over the year in the library your child will explore award winning children's literature, cover basic literacy skills, learn how to be a responsible digital citizen, practice digital literacy skills, use the design thinking process through makerspace challenges and of course check out books. Parents are invited to support the CCE library over the year through volunteering opportunities, supporting students in returning their books each week as well as donating recycled materials for our makerspace. (plastic containers and lids, paper towel rolls and thin cereal box cardboard, no large cardboard boxes, please). I look forward to another year in the library with you. Please feel free to reach out any time. Keep reading!

Welcome to Coal Creek Music!
I am very excited to begin another fun year in our beautiful Music Room!
Our music program puts focus on what children do instinctively: play! We sing, dance and play children's games, creating melodies and rhythmic patterns that become intrinsic through movement. We study the elements of music: melody, rhythm, harmony, dynamics, tempo and timbre moving from very simple to more complex using Orff instruments, recorders, autoharps, guitars and ukuleles to build a solid foundation for a lifetime love of music making. We can’t wait to get started! |
