Greetings Fairview Students and Families! 

Welcome to our new families and welcome back to our returning Knights! 

Now that we are back into our newly remodeled building and I am settling into my new role, I want to share my optimism about the 26-27 school year. I am incredibly excited to be part of the Fairview legacy, meeting you all, and I am looking forward to our work together this year. Please take a minute to stop by and introduce yourselves at our beginning of the year events and activities. 

As we prepare for students beginning next week, please make sure your family has reviewed the Fairview Student Handbook as it has significant revisions. I also want to share our areas of focus for our staff and students this year:

Positive School Culture - I have already started meeting with students, staff, and parents to learn what people love most about Fairview, areas for continued growth, and ideas that we can integrate into our culture. We have many positive plans for the beginning of the year to help launch a great school year. Please look for upcoming invitations to listening sessions with me and dates for Coffee Talk with the Principal. 

Grading Policy - The staff and our School Accountability Committee will be working closely on creating clear and consistent guidelines for grading at FHS. This work will be ongoing, and we anticipate having schoolwide guidelines across all departments created by the end of the school year. To launch this year with clear expectations, each teacher has been asked to include their grading practices on their syllabi. After reviewing your student’s syllabi, please reach out to the teacher directly (and early in the semester) if you have any questions.

Cell Phone Policy - The BVSD Board of Trustees revised policy JRCT sometimes called the “Away for the Day” policy during the 24-25 school year. Schools began implementing it in January, 2025. I have received many concerns about inconsistent implementation at Fairview. Please know that this will be strictly enforced in the building during the school year. It will be reviewed with students during the first advisory class and additional information will be shared with families. 

Academic Integrity and Artificial Intelligence- The Fairview staff and our student leadership groups will be working to create clear guidelines for responsible use of Artificial Intelligence as we implement our Career and Technical Education (CTE) focus on AI. We have also updated the handbook with clear expectations for academic integrity in all settings.

Advisory Bell Schedule

Our new Bell Schedule includes a common block lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays that will allow access to teachers and provide the ability for clubs to meet during the school day.

Yearbook Pictures / IDs: Lifetouch will be on campus to take school pictures for the yearbook and school IDs. School IDs will be issued to 9th grade students and all new students. All incoming 10th–12th grade students should keep and use their current school ID until they graduate.

Please be sure to be school-appropriate for your ID photo (no costumes, wigs, face paint, etc.), and do not alter your appearance. These photos are used to identify students each day and play an important role in school security.

We welcome all incoming 9th grade families interested in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program and FHS Honors Program (IB and Advanced Placement/AP), as well as returning FHS families (10th-12th grades) at the annual IB Back-to-School Picnic on Sunday, August 9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Come and meet the 12th grade IB Mentor-Students, FHS Staff and Administration and IB Coordinator, Chris Weber. Mingle with other families and students, learn about parent volunteer opportunities, and socialize with us in the greenspace in front of the school (south side near the horseshoe entrance).

Fairview Athletics is excited to kick off the fall sports season! Families of students participating in or interested in joining a fall sport are invited to attend the Fall Sports Parent Meeting on Thursday, August 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the Fairview Auditorium. This is a great opportunity to meet our new Athletic Director, Cora Lanter, connect with coaches, and learn important information for the upcoming season.

Calling all musicians, actors, dancers, magicians, comedians, technical theater humans! Don't miss our annual Production Season Information Meeting in the FHS Auditorium on Tuesday, August 18 from 4:00-5:00pm! You will learn about Fairview's Main Stage Productions for the coming year: Fall Musical, Pops Show, and Spring Play. This meeting is very important for getting all the details and preliminary sign-ups for the amazing performing arts shows at Fairview!

Those interested in auditioning for the Musical should stay for the Musical Vocal Tutorial meeting from 5:00-5:30 pm!

Hello new Fairview students and parents!                         

My name’s Vanessa Carroll, and I’m Fairview’s GRAD+ site lead.  A former FHS English teacher, I’m thrilled to begin my fifth year promoting GRAD+’s five focus areas:  college credit, Seal of Biliteracy, Seal of Climate Literacy, Work Based Learning, and Industry Certification.  Here's more information. 

GRAD+ is a BVSD initiative designed to increase postsecondary opportunities in both higher education and workplace arenas. Fairview GRAD+ opportunities include 21 dual enrollment sections taught by UCD credentialed FHS teachers, 44 concurrent enrollment sections taught by FRCC credentialed FHS teachers, 1 Internship course, and Seal of Biliteracy, Seal of Climate Literacy, and industry certification support.  The 408 graduates of Fairview’s 2026 class earned 191 Seals of Biliteracy, 17 Seals of Climate Literacy, and 46 industry certifications, and 42 completed an apprenticeship or internship, and 396 earned college credit.

Parents, if you are picking up and dropping off your student at the school, please use the designated pick up and drop off location at the west side of the senior lot which is located just southwest of the front of the school. Please follow the yellow signs designated for pick up and drop off.

High School lockers are only provided to students who sign up for one. Secure your own locker for the school year if you wish to have one. Our locker registration form will be available on August 5th to ensure you have a designated space for your belongings.

All lockers are shared with one other student in your grade. Please consider a close friend in your grade, or we will assign a locker partner for you.

Yearbooks are available for pre-order already! Pre-order your yearbook here to lock in a low price, and use the coupon code EARLY for an additional discount! The coupon code expires on 9/1/26, and the price will go up to $80 on January 1, 2027.

Hello Knights and parents, welcome back to the 25-26 school year. Here is some information for any students that will have meds at school. This includes epipens and asthma inhalers. Attached are the forms you will need to fill out and have your provider sign. Return the forms to the health room. We encourage high schoolers to self-carry epipens and inhalers so they can be used as soon as possible in an emergency situation. BVSD Health Services - Contract to Self-carry Medications 

Fairview High School will continue our 8-period day with Advisory this year, but a few adjustments have been made in order to honor student, parent, and staff requests.

The schedule is designed to support academic success, strengthen relationships between students and staff, and provide dedicated time for college and career readiness, social-emotional learning, and community building.

We heard your concerns about the lack of access to teachers and finding common time for FHS clubs to meet.

Our new Bell Schedule includes a common block lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays that will allow access to teachers and provide the ability for clubs to meet during the school day.

This year, Advisory will have students in only one grade level (rather than mixed grades). Freshmen will be with freshmen, sophomores will be with sophomores, etc., and we are excited about addressing grade-level needs.

Advisory will be scheduled on Thursday mornings from 8:30–9:30 and will include increased time for students to connect with teachers.

Additionally, the Wednesday/Thursday schedule is now in chronological order: 1, 3, 5, 7 and 2, 4, 6, 8. There is also designated time for teachers to meet with students during Office Hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays during 5th and 6th periods.

As a 1:Web school, we ask all future FHS students to not purchase their own personal computer, but instead wait to receive a new Chromebook from BVSD when they enter 9th grade.

Benefits of having a BVSD-issued Chromebook include:

Security: students will be able to be on the most secure BVSD network we offer (all outside devices use an open “Guest” network)

Testing: students must have a BVSD chromebook for testing (PSAT, SAT, CMAS, AP, IB, and most class exams all require a BVSD device

Curriculum: classroom assignments and resources are accessible on chromebooks (and aren’t always compatible with other devices)

Chromebook Repairs: repairs for broken Chromebooks can be completed quickly through our school and district services (students can bring their Chromebook to the library to get it repaired).

Families will be charged an annual fee* through Infinite Campus that can be paid any time within the fall semester, along with other school fees. All families who qualify for free/reduced lunch will have this fee waived.

*Prices vary based on market value of the item when issued, but are usually around $67 per year.

Welcome back, Knights! We are excited to kick off another great school year. Regular attendance and arriving on time help students stay connected, engaged, and successful. Every class period matters, and we appreciate your partnership in making attendance a priority.

If your student will be absent or late, please notify the Attendance Office as soon as possible. Parents and guardians can report absences by calling the Attendance Line at 720-561-5352 or by submitting an absence through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Please note that attendance updates may take 48- 72 hours to process, and automated attendance calls may still occur during that time.

Please provide a note if your student is absent due to a doctor's appointment or another appointment that issues documentation to excuse the absence for the day or class period.

Please note that we do not call students out of class for pickups or deliveries. If you plan to pick up your student early or need to drop off an item, please communicate those plans with your student ahead of time.

Students who become ill during the school day must report to the Health Office before leaving campus. The Health Office will contact a parent or guardian if a student needs to go home.

Students can use My.BVSD.org for Single Sign-On access to Gmail, Infinite Campus, Schoology, and more. If you were enrolled in a BVSD school last year, your login credentials remain the same.

Guardians who haven't yet created an Infinite Campus Portal account should check their email for an Activation Key, which may be in the Promotions or Spam folder. If you didn’t receive it, please contact our Registrar, Staci Sena, at staci.sena@bvsd.org for support.

Fairview does not have a school supply list. When students meet with teachers they will inform students what they will need for each class.

We've got you covered! Thanks to the Impact in Education Grant, free
backpacks and school supply kits are available for any student who
needs them. Just stop by the Counseling Conference Room and ask at the
front desk to pick up your backpack and supply kit. We're excited to
help you start the school year ready for success!

Fairview High School operates from 8:35 am to 3:55 pm, Monday through Friday. Students can enter the building starting at 8:00 am with their student ID badge, but cannot enter after 4:00 pm using their badge.

The main office is open and accessible from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.

Breakfast and lunch are FREE for BVSD students. Students can receive a full breakfast, along with one lunch entree (with unlimited salad/fruit to accompany the entree) for free each day. Even though lunch is free, it is still very important that families complete the Free & Reduced Price School Meal application each year, as it waives and reduces fees (including athletics/activities and school technology fees) district-wide for many families, can impact transportation for some families, and impacts important funding for individual schools. It also qualifies some families for a 50% reduction in Lifelong Learning tuition, and waived tuition for BVSD Online classes (excluding the $50 registration fee). Child Care families will continue to apply for financial assistance through the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP).
