Principal 10/9/2026 Dear Nederland Panthers,
Homecoming was great last weekend! In fact, I think it was the best Homecoming I’ve seen in my six years here. The parade, pep assemblies, and dance were all well-executed. The PTA put on a fantastic BBQ, and our teams came away victorious. Soccer defeated the Estes Park Bobcats 8–1, and volleyball won 3–0 against Poudre Community Academy. A big “thank you” to everyone who helped make the weekend such a success!
With another week behind us, I want students and families to know that we are officially halfway through Semester 1. Be sure to check you grades in Infinite Campus. Also, I strongly encourage families to sign up for sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Our teachers care deeply about your students and want to help them succeed. Partnering with teachers during conferences is a great way to ensure your student stays on track academically. Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on the following dates:
Wednesday, October 14: In person Thursday, October 15: Virtual Thursday, October 22: In person
Finally, this is a reminder that there will be no school on Monday, October 12 or Tuesday, October 13 due to Fall Break. I hope your family has a chance to get outside and enjoy this beautiful fall weather. When we return on Wednesday, October 14, we will follow an 8-period Wednesday schedule. Thank you for being part of our Nederland community. If you have any questions, please reach out. Have a great weekend! Mr. DePaula |

FIELD TRIP: FIREHOUSE ART CENTER DAY OF THE DEAD & IMMIGRANT STORIES |
Hello parents,
Next week, Lori Kinczel and Judie Sievers are taking an Art and Foods trip to a traditional tortilleria and the Firehouse Art Center's Day of the Dead and Immigrant Stories exhibit in Longmont.
Students will go on the trip by bus on 10/15 or 10/16, depending which day they usually have Art and Foods classes! Students should bring some money to buy tortillas and goods from the Mexican mercado (shop). In addition, students should bring a sack lunch or order one from Mrs. Sievers asap from our cafeteria!
We need parent volunteers desperately! Please email judie.sievers@bvsd.org if you can join us.
Please pay the $10 cost to Revtrak using this link.
All students must have a permission slip turned in as well. You can email judie.sievers@bvsd.org with the permission slip attached if you prefer not completing the paper version.
We need these by FRIDAY, 10/9! Thank you everyone for making this amazing trip happen! |

Project Bike Tech: Keep it ROLLIN! |
|
|
Thanks to some very generous local donors, Project Bike Tech students at Nederland/Middle Senior High School each received their own bicycle tool kits this week!
These individual tool kits will allow students to take their learning beyond the classroom. The skills they develop in Project Bike Tech are skills they can use for years to come. With their own tools, students will be better prepared to maintain and repair their own bicycles, help family members and friends, and continue developing their mechanical skills independently. What they learn in our classroom can become a practical, lifelong skill—and potentially the foundation for future education and career opportunities. Thank you donors!!!

Youth Affirmation Events for 5-7 grades
The Youth Equity Council (YEC) is hosting BVSD 5th -7th graders for an event of affirmations, games, and art centered on cultural diversity. Students will participate in a variety of activities led by the Youth Equity Council members (7th-12th graders). The Youth Equity Council is composed of diverse young leaders who will help to provide district leadership and the Equity Council important feedback, as we collaboratively work to make the Boulder Valley School District more equitable. We know that it is extremely important that students, especially those most impacted, be involved in the conversation.
The participants will explore various aspects of their own identities. The goal for the event is to provide positive engagement with a diverse group of students, and to feel affirmed in who they are. This event will have limited capacity. Students can attend both events. October 28, 2026 | 5 pm-6:30 pm | Education Center 6500 Arapahoe Rd, Boulder
