Dear Platt and CHOICE Community, 

It’s been such a great first week at school! Back To School Night is this coming Thursday, August 21. We hope to see you at 5:30PM for Town Hall Meetings and tours with your students! 

If you haven’t already done so, please download the new BVSD Apptegy app and login. Logging in will allow you to receive access to the “rooms” (i.e. classrooms) that your students are in and receive communication from teachers! You’ll also want to select “Platt” from the drop down (and perhaps uncheck schools you’re not interested in) to keep tabs on our feed.

All Platt and CHOICE students will have their school picture taken on Wednesday, August 19th.  In order to be included in the yearbook and receive a school ID, students must have their pictures taken.  All ordering is online at https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/.  Our picture day ID is  EVT2Q4ZT8

We are excited to hold our Back to School Night IN PERSON on Thursday.  Bring your student with you.  Individual information from each teacher will be shared with you on Wednesday in the form of video presentations.  On Thursday, you will have the opportunity to participate in two ways:

Thank you for taking the time to review our parking lot information so that we can make sure our students and families stay safe.  Pick up and drop off can occur on both sides of our building no matter the program in which your student is enrolled.

We have the following opportunities starting up right away:

You must have a current sports physical to participate (current = within a calendar year) - SPECIFIC FORM REQUIRED

PPE Form - Student Medical Eligibility Form (Page 4) *To be completed by provider - ONLY FORM TURNED INTO SCHOOL or uploaded into Arbiter

If you are interested in purchasing ($15) a school planner for your student, you can bring cash or check to the main office, or you can pay through RevTrak. PLANNER

Please see grade specific school supplies lists for Platt and CHOICEstudents. We ask that 6th graders please do NOT bring supplies on their first day, 8/12/26 and instead bring them on Thursday or Friday. We appreciate your support!

What a great first week! I hope everyone is settling in and excited for the year ahead. There are lots of ways to get involved with PTO and support our Platt & CHOICE community. Here are a few easy ways to get started:

Support Wolf Call

Wolf Call is our one big schoolwide fundraiser and kicks off in September! 100% of donations go directly back to supporting our students through field trip scholarships, classroom materials, music and arts programs, school events, staff support, and more. Donations are tax deductible, and employer matching funds are welcome! Stay tuned for more info!

Join the Wolf Call Committee
We’re looking for volunteers to join our Wolf Call Committee! This is your chance to bring your ideas, get involved, and help shape our biggest fundraiser of the year. We’ll meet Wednesday, August 19 at 2:00 PM to brainstorm, plan, and find ways for everyone to pitch in. Come help us make this year’s Wolf Call the best one yet! Meeting location TBD. Join the Wolf Call Committee!

Eat Out & Support Platt
Watch the Howler for upcoming restaurant nights. Enjoy a meal out and a portion of the proceeds comes right back to our school!

Help Us Keep Our Kids Safe!
We’re looking for a few parent volunteers to help students safely cross at Cherryvale & Baseline in the mornings. It’s just 25 minutes, from 8:15–8:40 AM, and you definitely don’t have to commit to every day! Even helping one morning a week would make a big difference. Interested in helping? Sign up here!

Join Us at a PTO Meeting
Our PTO meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 2:00 PM at Platt. Our first meeting is Wednesday, September 9. Everyone is welcome!

Here’s to a great year!

Once again, breakfast and lunch are FREE for BVSD students this year! All students can receive breakfast and a hot lunch entrée, which includes unlimited salad bar access each school day. Second entrees can be purchased when available with money from the student’s meal account.   IMPORTANT: Even though meals are free, we strongly encourage every possible qualifying family to apply for the Free and Reduced Price School Meal program; doing so might qualify families for additional services and reduced fees, as well as impact funding for our school.

BVSD is using Apptegy, an app-based messaging tool that all families can download to communicate with schools, their teachers, and the district. Before school begins, all guardians will receive a text message and email from BVSD with information on how to download and login. When you receive them, please follow these instructions to begin seeing updates from your schools and communicating directly with your teachers via the app.

The app features a live feed of news and updates, the ability to receive push notifications, and 2-way communication between teachers, coaches and parents.
