WEEKLY UPDATE: AUGUST 3, 2026

Message from the Principal

Welcome to 2026-2027 School Year!

I warmly greet our returning families and those joining the Ryan community for the first time. Entering my fourth year as Ryan's principal, I remain deeply committed to the Boulder Valley School District and am honored to be part of this caring, spirited, and dedicated school community. I'm grateful for the students, families, and colleagues who make coming to work each day a joy, and I look forward to another year of learning and growing together.

Celebrating Our Achievements

Reflecting on this past year, I am incredibly proud of our progress and accomplishments:

Academic Growth: Continued improvement in reading and math performance across grade levels

Student Engagement: Increased participation and enthusiasm for learning throughout the school

Positive and Safe Culture: Strengthened consistency with our Rhino Promise expectations and completed our second year as No Place for Hate

S.T.E.A.M. Buddies: Every classroom had a buddy group that met weekly to connect and explore topics related to our school's focus

A.G.E. Celebrations: Our joyful tradition of recognizing achievement, growth, and effort has become a highlight for students

Math Resource: A successful roll-out of Imagine Math which is grounded in a problem-solving approach to math.  Click here for a letter about this approach as we begin year two. Ryan Imagine Math - Family Newsletter Information

New Opportunities: Introduction of optional programs including DARE to DREAM, READ to RIDE with Lafayette Fire Department, and Write Like a Rhino summer writing

Looking Ahead

Building on last year's success, our focus remains on continuous improvement and collaboration.  I am thrilled and excited to welcome many new staff members to our school community. Please check the staff list for updates.

Ryan Staff List 26/27 (August 2, 2026)

As we look ahead, we remain focused on several key priorities:

Fostering a strong sense of belonging for every student, ensuring that each child feels valued, supported, and connected to our school community

Strengthening academic growth through engaging, rigorous instruction that meets students where they are and helps them reach their full potential

Building meaningful partnerships with families, recognizing that student success is a collaborative effort between home and school

Your involvement, communication, and support make all the difference in creating a positive learning environment. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns, or ideas throughout the year—we truly value your input and engagement.

Thank you for choosing Ryan Elementary School.  I look forward to a wonderful year ahead filled with learning, laughter, and achievement.

It’s a great day to be a Rhino! Go Rhinos!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Jackman

Principal

Important Updates

School Supplies at Ryan

At Ryan, we simplify school supplies!  Instead of asking families to purchase individual items, we collect a contribution for each student.  This allows teachers to buy exactly what their classrooms need.

$50 per student (K-5).  Pay through RevTrak, or in the main office with cash or check.  If you need assistance with school supplies, please contact the office, and we can connect you with our community liaison.

Free & Reduced Lunch Information

The application for the Free & Reduced Price School Meal program for the 2026-2027 school year opened Tuesday, July 21. Breakfast and lunch at BVSD continue to be free in the coming school year thanks to the Healthy School Meals for All program. Every BVSD student is entitled to breakfast and a hot lunch entrée, which includes unlimited salad bar access each school day. Second entrees can be purchased when available with money from the student’s meal account.

IMPORTANT: Even though meals are free, we strongly encourage every possible qualifying family to apply for the Free and Reduced Price School Meal program; doing so might qualify families for additional services and reduced fees, as well as impact funding for your school. Some families qualify for the program as a Direct Certification through the state because of their existing SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid benefits. Families who qualified through Direct Cert should have already received a notification letter via email.
