Greetings Fairview Families! As we enter Homecoming week, it is a great time to celebrate the great start to our school year! Students have settled into their routines and generally have excellent grades and attendance. Our sports and activities are in full swing and our teams and clubs are representing Fairview very well.
As the new principal, I am proud of our student and parent attendance and conduct at our events. It is easy to be proud of our community when you all represent us so well. Tardiness - Tardiness has quickly risen to the top as a major issue at Fairview. As I have asked teachers to maximize instructional time and teach “bell to bell,” the issues of tardiness is impacting their ability to meet expectations. Tardies affect everyone in the classroom. Students who arrive late miss material and have to be retaught. Students in class and teachers are disrupted when students arrive late. We have 3382 tardies after 26 days of school. Please check your student’s attendance and encourage punctuality. RTD runs every half hour, and the SKIP runs every 10 minutes. Please help your student develop a plan to arrive on time. Morning detention or “Breakfast Club” is assigned for every 10 tardies.
ID Cards - Since we allow students to access doors through their student ID or fob, policy requires students to have their ID on them at all times. Beginning Tuesday, September 22, we will be asking students to show their ID at the door to enter in the morning. Students will get a friendly reminder next week about the requirement. Beginning Monday, September 28, students will have to go to the office to sign into the building if they do not have their ID. Students will be charged $10 to replace lost ID’s. Please help us by reminding your student to bring their ID.

| FHS vs. BHS Soccer Barbecue |
Knights, show up and show out for the Boulder vs. Fairview soccer game on 9/22 at the FHS field! Make sure to buy your HoCo tickets this week up at the bricks. When you get to the game, we'll have a barbecue with burgers and hotdogs - if you show us your ticket or receipt, we'll give you one for free! We also have a Kona Ice truck showing up, so come support your Knights and buy your HoCo tickets before prices go up!

| FET ( Families and Educators Together) meeting on 09/28/2026 |
Fairview Families!
Join us for our next Families and Educators Team (FET) Meeting on Monday, September 28, from 6:00–7:30 PM at the College and Career Center (CCC). Food will be provided! Please note that the gathering is intended for non-English-speaking families.
FET is a team of family members and educators partnering together for the success and well-being of all students. FET aims to center the voices of underrepresented families and collaborate together to improve the school for the benefit of all. Come connect with other families and educators, hear important school updates, and ask questions. Principal Brent Caldwell and Assistant Principal Katie McGee will also be joining us.
Interpreters will be available in Spanish and Nepali. Families who speak a language other than English at home and need interpretation in another language should contact Rikki Keiser at rikkij.keiser@bvsd.org by September 22 so we can make arrangements.

| Before You Call or Email Attendance… |
Please specify the period(s) your student will be absent when calling to report an absence. No call is needed to excuse students for school activities. Coaches provide the attendance office with a roster of students who will be excused for the activity.
Please allow 48–72 hours for attendance updates. Our system is updated manually, so changes may not appear immediately.There is no need to call or email again. We have received your message and will update the system in the order in which the calls/emails were received.

Don’t miss your chance to take the PSAT/NMSQT—register today!
|
PSAT/NMSQT registration opened on RevTrak on Monday, August 31, and will close on September 25.PSAT/NMSQT is College Board's National Merit Scholarship Qualifying test and is available for current Juniors to enroll in. Spots are limited. The cost is 35$ and is non-refundable.
The test is optional, digital and will be administered at FHS on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. We're so excited to offer this to our Juniors this fall!

| Fairview High School AP & IB Exam Registration |
Registration for IB and AP exams will open Friday, September 25, and close Friday, October 23. Complete instructions and the RevTrak payment link (and details on how to request a fee waiver) will be emailed to all families when registration begins. |

Please note that
Monday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 6th conferences will be held in person only at Fairview High School. All other conference sessions, October 14th, 15th, and 16th, will be conducted virtually through Google Meet. The sign-up link will be sent to all families on Monday, September 28th from HelpAtSchools.com.

| Fairview Fun Friday Was a Hit! |
What a great afternoon at Fairview! Our Fairview Fun Friday brought students and staff together for an afternoon of fun, connection, and school spirit. Students enjoyed playing lawn games, spending time with friends, and exploring the Club Fair to learn more about the many clubs and activities available at Fairview.
A big thank-you to StuCo for organizing the event and to everyone who helped make it such a success. It was wonderful to see so many students getting involved, connecting with one another, and showing their Fairview spirit. |

Huge congratulations to Fairview juniors Josie Craytor and Alex Kang on taking massive steps toward their college lacrosse futures! Josie has officially committed to Northwestern University to play for the Wildcats, while Alex has announced her commitment to the admissions process at Harvard. We look forward to cheering on these two exceptional student-athletes at Fairview and beyond! |

Solar Panels at Fairview: A Student-Driven Sustainability Project |
Last May, students in the Climate Literacy course designed and built solar panel structures over the school gardens, planting native perennial plants beneath them. Inspired by a visit to an agrivoltaic farm in North Boulder and guided by community master gardeners, students created a functional learning space that blends renewable energy with sustainable agriculture. This fall, the panels will be wired to provide a charging station and power an atmospheric water generator for garden irrigation. One panel is already operational for phone charging!

Hispanic Heritage Foundation Youth Awards |
The Hispanic Heritage Foundation's (HHF) Youth Awards applications are live for educational grants of up to $4,000 to support the Class of 2027. They’re looking for students who’ve made achievements in the classroom, made an impact in communities, and demonstrated excellence in community service, engineering, and green sustainability.

Reduce Emissions- Turn Cars Off While Waiting |
BVSD buses turn off instead of idling while waiting for students. You can too! Because vehicle idling is a significant source of air pollution, BVSD has an operating procedure that prohibits buses and transportation support vehicles from idling for more than 5 minutes within any given 1 hour period.
Although it is tempting to keep cars and buses running, especially during colder weather, please turn off vehicles while waiting to pick up students. (*An exception to this is Food Service vehicles with refrigeration that need to remain on to maintain food quality.) |
